Roman Amosa Wins Wellbeing Award for FitTeens
Our inspiring young co-founder of FitTeens, has been crowned the winner of the Wellbeing Award at the prestigious 2024 GirlBoss Awards. This accolade recognises her outstanding contribution to the health and well-being of rangitahi in New Zealand.
FitTeens was born from Roman's own personal experience. Feeling disconnected and lacking suitable fitness options during and following the COVID-19 lockdowns, she was supported by her mother with training specifically tailored to teens. Roman took the programme further and sought to create a space where young people could not only get fit but also build confidence, make friends, and learn valuable life skills.
"I saw a need for a program that catered to teenagers, a place where they could feel comfortable and supported," says Roman. "FitTeens is more than just a gym; it's a community where we focus on both physical and mental well-being."
The FitTeens program has continued to grow since its inception, offering a range of activities including high-intensity workouts, mindfulness practices, and nutritional guidance. It has become a beacon of positivity for many young people in Auckland, fostering a sense of belonging and empowering them to live healthier lives.
The GirlBoss Awards celebrate the achievements of young women in New Zealand, recognising their talent, leadership, and impact on their communities. Roman Amosa's win is a testament to her dedication, passion, and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
There were over 550 nominations for the 12 awards so Congratulations to Roman Amosa on this well-deserved recognition!
